on purpose actually, they are often compared to that, if you read their build history they were nicknamed by the original engineers as "the Japanese Ferrari" , fell a little short due to Honda not wanting to further develop the car, but Honda has not made a car like it since then , my fav is the NSX S S-Zero

Yup.

All of these cars were powered down versions with less HP. The Skyline wasn't made legal here so that proves my point.

The RX-8, like the RX-7 before it, comes with a naturally aspirate 1.3 liter duel rotary engine (13b). The RX-7 however, had a Twin Turbo version.. The 2.0 liter 3 rotor (20b) only came in 1 production car, the japanese only Mazda Cosmo. The quad rotor (r26b) was only used in Mazda race cars and a couple of concepts.

You mean like the Toyota Supra Twin Turbo, Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo, Nissan GT-R, Nissan 350/370Z, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Subaru WRX STi, Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4, Mazda RX-7 Twin Turbo, Lexus IF, Lexus LF-A, Toyota MR2 Turbo, Honda/Acura NSX, Honda S2000. Yea its a shame we never got any of those.
