Orson Welles discusses the nature of 'cold reading', a type of analysis used by many phony psychics and fortune tellers to trick their customers into thinking they indeed do have special powers, and how some can become so skilled at it that they actually trick themselves into believing they are truly psychic.

  • I love a host who let's his guests speak.

It is very refreshing to see that there used to be a time when the Interviewer talked less than the interviewee. Today, the Jay Lennos believe that they are so very important and interesting that they have to occupy more time than their guests, which of course makes their shows quite homogeneous and repetitive.

  • Great video!! Thanks for the post

  • This is the guy who got Nixon to confess (they made a movie about it) - modern interviewers take heed: talk less, listen more. Love David Frost (and Orson Welles) national treasure

  • Aaaaaa....the French champagne, there is a champagn by Paul Masson, vintage dated

  • If God was ever to be met as a human being, I would want it to be Orson Wells. Ta ta.

  • he truly was an astounding man, a magician, an esteemed actor and a director. Just brilliant

  • Who knew the candyman from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was also a television interviewer?

  • @ChicagoSouthDan I've always associated 'cold reading' with the lame parlor trick that so called psychics pull on their vulnerable targets. I also think it is common knowledge that Orson Welles became interested in the workings of magic so I think the title is fitting.

Also, psychics are some of the most despicable people imaginable; they way they prey upon the emotionally fragile is only topped by religion... so I give much respect to Mr. Welles... and I also like Paul Masson
