  • ''You know what Pi is, probably, if you don't get outta here''

    It's those tiny details that keep me chuckling and spice up your already awesome videos.

  • @skinsvideos21 lol that wasn't written in the script either...

  • @canadakim1 Me? lol... that's rich.

    What makes you assume that?

  • Thanks for continuing the series; these videos have renewed my interest in classical physics like no other.

  • i got superstar in the physic lesson at school^^ because of youtube :D and especially your channel bro

  • @mker1080 Seconded. :)

  • @SnowDog2003 well you know the powers that be own the very lines of comminication we use... how else other than to have certain things not able to be simply posted

  • Frank Znidarsic would be proud if he seen these vids

  • I got my own answers to this one. 1.409X10^-15 is the classical radius of the proton, which is the distance from the center to the coulomb barrier in a hydrogen atom. The electron is at twice this distance when in the ground state.

    Q^2 is the charge of the proton squared. So this equation predicts the maximum force between two protons at the distance of their maximum repulsion, and the force between the proton and an electron in a hydrogen atom at the ground state.

  • Also, I can't find any other reference to 29.05 newtons, except from Frank. I found a reference from 1998 where he calculates it from this equation:

    Force = Q^2 / ( 4*pi*eo (2*1.409 x 10-15 )^2 ) = 29.053 Newtons

    Can you detail how this number is derived?

    What is the value of Q?

    What is the significance of (2*1.409 x 10-15 )^2?

    How does this equation relate to the others you present?

  • 2) Is the equation at minute 5:10 correct? Your equation is

    E = (2*Q^2) / (4*pi*e0)*(1/x) looks like it has an extra '2' in the (2*Q^2).

    There's an equation in Wikipedia which I cannot paste into here for some reason. Search for 'Potential Energy'.

    Where electrostatic potential energy = W where

    W = (1*Q^2) / (4*pi*e0)*(1/x)

  • A couple of other issues:

    1) one over two pi (1/2pi) is not the same thing as one-half pi (1/2) pi @ minute 9:30.
