A close examination of the lack of healthy grocery options in the flatlands of Oakland amongst the poor. This series features Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in West Oakland
bru!!!! u on yo hood 2 hood grizzly I C! this shit got me light-weight turf-sick.... i miss the hood- but it'll be there when i get back. good shit fam.
C'mon, now...we (as a community) can do it, especially those in the Black community. We have access to the same resources that the Asian, Indian and Latin communities use to empower and economically support their neighborhoods and communities. Isn't it time we start complaining, as we know what the problems are and take action? I'm not knocking what you're doing, big ups for speading awareness, but enough is enough. Time to raise up and stop talking, we've watched too long.
This is a problem that isn't limited to just Oakland, it affect most inner-city neighborhoods. The problems for me is that the block isn't stepping up and making the community an environment where a retailer won't be robbed or brought to bankrupcy by theft and; the community needs to create the businesses that will benefit and thrive as well as making it a point to support those who do come in an attempt to do so.
