Life: What is its purpose?

Attempting to discover the meaning of life is the ultimate vanity of vanities. Even those who have everything end up with nothing. The irony of life is that it doesn't matter if one is a King or a ...

For those of you who may misunderstand the intention of Ecclesiastes's/Solomon's message:

It's the same wisdom your grandmother may have tried to impart.

Don't worry about the little things. Don't even worry about the big things. If you want to live a perfectly happy life, and be content, all that must be done is to sit down to dinner with loved ones, have one drink, and be merry. Just live your life.

All else is vanity.

It's a hard book to sum up in one sentence. It deals with existentialism, ironies of life, the shortness of life, searching for legacy, acknowledgment of death, practical wisdom, how the finite is complete vanity, etc. The quote in my video happens to be in the context of death being the same fate for all and how everything we consider to be so important now is nothing in light of eternity. Thus, we should enjoy the right things in this life while we can.

I love this book of the Bible. I'm actually surprised it's in there. It definitely has a touch of nihilism to it. Who of any religion or non-religion can disagree with its words though?

theboombody, I agree. I'm also surprised Song of Songs is in there, but who's counting? Well, I guess God is the creative creator of everything, even poetry so I'm not too suprised. We can certainly pit this ultimate nihilistic predicament against Christ, the greatest existential good! John 17:3.

Is big foot a prime cause? Is bigfoot an eternal all-good standard by which there can be real morality? Does bigfoot have an eternal mind and is 3 in 1 by which he can account for abstract absolute universal meanings, which you and I are using right now? No. And children aren't born with knowledge of anything, but can choose what to believe after they learn of things. The first person who believed in God obviously wasn't indoctrinated, so your argument fails.

I can also turn your argument around and show you that Naturalism isn't natural, thus children would require indocrination to believe that. But my worldview is that people are born hostile to their Maker, thus don't need indocrination per say but only their evil self to cling to poor reasons to disbelieve in God.

My friend - I wish you well in your life journey. Our little exchage both fun and interesting. I sugggest the first person to
contemplate a "GOD or GODS" was likely pantheist, with a great imagination and completely in error. As for morality - the bible is full of savagery, slaughter, misery and lunacy, not much of a standard. Magical shoes may be comfortable, but they are not for everyone. Regards.....

My life will be eternal in Christ, which has already started. You're missing my point. My example was the first person to believe in God as an eternal personal all-good being who is the prime cause of everything, not the impersonal finite definition "god". And even if things in the Bible are really evil to you, you still are assuming a personal, eternal, all-good standard, just not the God of the Bible, so you're all the more proving my point. Your unbelief is magical, considering your arguments

You have me smiling! I'll try again - Can we agree that children are born with no knowledge of "BIG FOOT" and acqiure such a perspective through indoctrination? Yes, you may easily assert the opposite, but only one position is correct. A matter of truth? Regards
