Attempting to discover the meaning of life is the ultimate vanity of vanities. Even those who have everything end up with nothing. The irony of life is that it doesn't matter if one is a King or a peasant, a business man or an aborted baby. Death is the same fate for all. Our lives are very short. No one dies who wont eventually die anyways. If you are alive now, you are as good as dead because death will reach you eventually without your consent or control. You were born apart from your will, so you will die apart from your will. So while we are alive on this side of death, what are we to do? What is our purpose? Is there anything of eternal significance for us here? Does it even matter what we do? This is the theme of the book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible. The writer of that book tried it all. Work, wisdom, pleasure, etc. and it left him wanting. Why does the human heart remain unsatisfied, especially now since we have Disney Land, worldwide transportation, and iphones? Was it meant to get its fill on something or someone better than what this world has to offer?
Here is what Jesus Christ said about what true life is: He said it is Himself. John 17:3 "this is eternal life: that they would know you the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent."
mmm so true. What do you have that you did not receive? So Vain. There is so many lives i could've lived. I did not choose this life, this life chose me.... Now what??

@Psa1mist9 yeah, sometimes I wonder if an infinite amount of possible alternative lives would be just as vain as this one. I think the answer is yes. That's brings some comfort, but also brings us back to the original starting point like you said. Now what?

i dunno im getting there, its purpose is experience but all experience exists only momentarily. thats why the constant seeking. There is a formula hidden deeply to experiencing bliss consisentently but i have yet to grasp it.

@2warNINg Scripture teaches it's Jesus Christ. John 17:3, "this is eternal life: that they would know you, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." And no one will experience perpetual bliss. Life is supposed to be filled with suffering in many forms for our growth as well. We so easily make an idol out of reaching flawless self-confidence and a 100% negation of depression. It's all bull.

I wont pretend to know what u understand of scripture, but for me personally i think its immersion in ideals that perputate an energy of appriciation of what fufilment is. U Understand holy scriptures, this understanding emits an profund energy which is felt and become your reality,
I understand this much and presume this is what you are experiencing.
Can you help me understand what you see in words written in old books that lead u to better understand your reality?
no arguments!

@2warNINg I'm saying there is an eternal personal all-good being, and there is a need for purpose. The two are connected and inseparable, and if they are disconnected, then purpose become 1. arbitrary, and 2. not all-fulfilling. Scripture is only a couple seconds old on God's time table. The truths of God and Christ in it are timeless. He's eternal. He's all-good. He knows everything, thus knows what will make us most happy, himself. If we were created by him and for him, then all else is a lie.
