Taken from Australian born Singapore recording artist Shueh-li Ong's 1st CD "Shueh-li's Xenovibes", Recalcitrance is a Trance piece with electronica as its sonic mainstay. Listen to it on her reverbnation channel http://www.reverbnation.com/artist/song_details/4305862?play_now=true
Specially arranged by Shueh-li for string quartet, this piece takes on a different character when performed by her on theremin and Artsylum Quartet at the Flipside series, an 'Esplanade Presents'.
This event that took place over 4 days and 8 shows (7-10 June 2010) could arguably be the 1st theremin and string quartet performance in Singapore and at the Esplanade.
Shueh-li would like to thank the Esplanade for the invitation to perform at this Arts Festival program, and allowing her to chose her "band".Thanks to Ted Ollikkala for assisting in videography and photography.

Footnote : The Etherwave theremin is effected through Mainstage2. Shueh-li used Westone IEMs in one ear.

Shueh-li this rework on your song is a beauty. As I'm very impressed of your technique, aside the great artistic choice of a small string ensemble, this is truly awesome. Going in the sounding I enjoy over all. Song is taken another dramatic power and this version is twisting my mind^^
This is a beautiful Live performance, waooo ^___^
