the original M.A.R.T.H.A. demonstration - 5.10.06

this is the presentation by Seth Goldenberg, Matthew Kay, and Jordan De Liso of their final project for MUS53 (electronic musical instrument design), taught by Paul Lehrman at Tufts University. We never really agreed on a final description of the acronym, but I personally think MIDI-Activating Rhythm-Transforming Hemispheric Apparatus (M.A.R.T.H.A.) works pretty well.

...and if we seem a bit out of it, it's because we were up until 5am the night before sampling vinyls for the audio...

The M.A.R.T.H.A. is using a combination of softwares, but mainly MAX/MSP Pro. The first working prototype that you see here was completed in May of 2006 and the intellectual property is unfortunately the sole possession of Tufts University.
