Kashmir's ongoing battle for independence

In January 1990, Indian security forces opened fire on unarmed Kashmiris protesting for independence. Twenty years later, the movement for independence is still battling on. Up to 5,000 people have died in the conflict so far, with another 8,000 missing. Last month, unmarked mass graves were found across the state, where nearly 2,600 bodies have been abandoned.
