@michaelbarrett18 That is correct, the A bombs were made for Germany but after surrendering, the war with Japan continued. However, the German people were not as primed to fight to the death as the Japanese were and America was starting to be appauled at the loses of Troops in the Pacific. It was estimated that a loss of at least 500,000 allied troops to take the mainland so Truman decided to drop the bombs to end the war. Less lives were lost because of it as well.

more lives would've been lost if the US invaded japan. The bombs were meant to be used against Germany but Germany had already lost the war so the US dropped them on japan to end the war quickly and so that it didn't look like a waste of money.

I like Japan and its culture... but lets not forget the atrocities that Japan did to many Asian countries during WW2. Some would agrue that Japan was just as bad if not worse than the Nazis... just ask the Chinese, Koreans and Filipinos. Although Japan is another country and culture now than in WW2, we should not forget the atrocities.
