Thomas Hart Benton was born and raised in Neosho, Missouri. The son of Congressman M.E. Benton. In 1906 young Benton went to work as a surveyor's assistant in the zinc mining fields in Joplin, Missouri. Benton subsequently took a job at the Joplin American Newspaper as a cartoonist. The rest is history. Join us as we delve into how the Ozarks influenced Thomas Hart Benton's work and how Benton continues to influence the Ozarks.
