The Mona Lisa is widely considered the greatest portrait of all time. It appears in countless advertisements, has inspired poetry, sculpture, forgeries, and theft. But seriously, why? The painting is small, only 30 x 21 inches, the color is somber, the background seems desolate and eerie, and the subject isn't anyone historically significant. So, what is all the brouhaha about? Is it really all about her mystifying gaze and a quirkly smile? Well, let's take a closer look.

  • Another theory is that the Mona Lisa was not a real person and the portrait is of Leonardo himself as a woman, because he longed to be a woman. (He was gay)

If you look at a portrait of him, they look very similar.

He kept it with him his whole life because it was privite.

  • @iMILAtube Was this before or after he helped a secret assassin take down a time-spanning paramilitary group with ties to the Lizard Men of Bohemian Grove?

  • @vat19com... not an outlandish theory at all, it's been around for a while, and has gathered credence...not an unusual occurrence either, many artists have painted such 'self portraits'. The bone structure of da vinci and mona lisa are more similar than one would expect and, given that da vinci had a strong attachment to the painting, it's a theory well worth looking at...

  • @loftaustin I was just joking, but the theory doesn't really hold water since the subject of the painting has actually been identified. It's one of those cases where you have to ask which is more likely, a feminized self portrait to act as a historical red herring, or the work of an artist who made his living by commission.

  • just wondering, why did you make a video like this, when vat19 is meant for videos on your products? also thank you for making this video, it's really interesting!

  • @nintendoLove777 We love the arts almost as much as we love selling awesome products. This video was actually to promote our Ambient Art DVD.

  • My theory is that since the girl has been identified is that he went out searching for a women with similar if not exact structures as him, and asked the ma'am if he could paint her, also another theory was made by I forgot who but this was pretty recent he the Mona Lisa was a panting of emotions I know one of them where jealousy I can't remember the rest...

  • Im impressed that after 4 years he still knew what he thought about drawing in the first place...

  • @megamoh987 History becomes a lot more exciting when you factor in Assassins and Templars.

  • I don;t know why scientists want to be part of everything this is just work of art why thye always made up somethings only Leonardo Da Vinci know how he drawed this and how he imagine that

  • The Mona Lisa is supposed to be a self portrait of Da Vinci himself as a woman.

  • only leonardo can tell the reason why

  • it took him over three years to get the eyes.

  • @Kaylaruiz92 nice try acting cool.

  • Monalisa is a anagram of two demi gods AMON and L'ISA .
