This is already being provided online by Zane Education at ZaneEducation(dot)com who actually use video specifically developed for the K12 curriculum. They not only provide over 1,000 subtitled educational videos teaching 12 subjects but they also provide online testing. Subtitling on Karaoke is fine if you have not got educational video to use, but really only does half the job. Using educational video you learn the subject plus imporve your reading skills and literacy levels at the same.
I am a fan of Same-Language-Subtitling --(dynamic karaoke style captioning always on either picture or below and in performance language. If this was added to MTV/music video/media aimed at children/young adults there would be a serious impact on literacy rates. See Kothari's study in India: sls4literacy(dot)com or my classroom use in USA: sls4reading(dot)com or search Same-Language-Subtitling on Youtube or Teachertube.
