George Neuwirth opened his entertainment center in 1947. The bowling alley, dining, and dancing complex played host to some of America's finest big bands.
Too bad the interior has gone to complete hell. Was there over Bockfest. Nothing like dancing in a lake of water from the numerous, massive leaks from the ceiling and the sight and smell of mold. Too bad that such a beautiful historic landmark in New Ulm can't be respected and kept up when bought for $1000 at auction....SAD
What's amazing here is that George was turned down by every local bank he approached for a loan to construct this facility...they thought it would never fly. Guess he proved 'em wrong. RIP George...
Great video! Too bad they don't use Slivers or some of the other musicians who played during the peak of th era to do some of the commentary. A personal comment from some of the great"living history" would add a lot.
Hey, Who did the Collier's quote voice? Pretty snazzy vid. How did we ever lose the habit of having big parties like this and dancing in the streets with our neighbors? It's gotta make a comeback.
Ah, that place is just across from the movie theater

@Taurusmn10 They are actually remodeling it right now. MASSIVE remodeling. He's keeping a lot of the original work though.

It would be nice to see some color shots of the interior of this massive ballroom.
The ceiling is a rose color with a lime green edge. When the neon is turned on it still looks spectacular.
