A Commodore 64 plays Led Zeppelin's Black Dog in real time off of a 1581 floppy disk. This was a computer that was designed, built, and sold in the early 1980s and was an extremely versatile computer for it's time.

  • I had a similar Zep song, "Living Loving Maid", which loaded into RAM from a 1541 before playing about 12 seconds of the song and then crashing the machine, necessitating a power cycling. While loading may have been different, and I am pretty sure it predated the Amiga by a couple years, it appears that playback was exactly the same in that the audio data appeared to directly affect the bar patterns on the screen. Big voodoo for the time! Thanks for the nostalgia.

  • That is pretty sweet! I thought it was going to be like a mario paint sounding thing, but not this is Black Dog. Awesome :D!

  • I remember downloading a similar sample of Black Dog off a BBS back in the 80's and wondered how they did that.
