what kind of pedal do you use to the bass?

I don't use pedals. I think I just mic'd out my bass going through my 1984 40W stereo Crate guitar amp on distortion settings while cutting out the mids.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad your kid sings my songs. I get that kind of comment a lot actually. So much so, in fact, I am thinking about starting a music channel just for kids.
