NOTE: Watch with Annotations for extended help.

Audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

If you manage to watch the video all the way to the very end, I applaud you. I am very bad at explaining things.

  • just one last thing about the wave part in perfect timing, does it matter if the song is stereo or mono, because i did get one of the 2 same song to be instrumental in audacity, their both have same timing, but the stereo songs have a different wave and tried to make the waves perfect, also yea i tried the step of inverting one of the track, i'm a little troubled.

  • @Homebrewkid123 It shouldn't matter if it's mono or stereo. In fact, stereo should work better. If you have one mono and one stereo, it will not work. By any chance, do you make make your instrumental?

  • Im kind of stuck on making a vocals only part, how do you do it?

  • @Homebrewkid123 Almost every instrumental track will NOT be starting on the perfect timing with the regular song, even if they sound like they do. Zoom in very close on a part where there is no singing. These tend to be the best parts as they should be exactly alike. Match these up perfectly, wave for wave. There's some physics that apply to this method which makes sense if you have a basic knowledge about waves. Also, don't forget to INVERT ONE of the tracks. This is important.

  • wait, how did you just choose that one stereo channel?

  • @blue13abyss I had mono audio files. They aren't the best for quality, but it's the only source I had. It does work with stereo and you won't have to split the tracks. Just invert one of the stereo files and do as said in the video.

  • @AznAndy90 yes i do. on linux, I used one of the effects called vocal remover on audacity, but for some reason, i want to do the opposite. It could be either it's that vocal remover affect or maybe i need to invert one of the stereo/mono to make it instrumental. do i need to get the original music to make it instrumental and add the original song to the project to mix and render?

also thanks for the tutorial on mashing up songs.

  • @thebigtarget1 I suggest you find a download link or torrent that supplies both regular and instrumental and both from the same source. I usually get mine from Nipponsei. Just search the CD album and their name and find one of their downloads.

  • I am pretty sure whoever mixed this song I am trying to extract vocals from changed the tempo just slightly between the instrumental and regular version. Is there a fix for this? I have tried multiple versions of the song combined with each other already.

  • will you just mash two songs together for me?? please?
