As an owner of the Deluxe edition, I HIGHLY suggest you DON'T get the deluxe edition, not least because the tiles don't lie flat along hinge joint (as can be seen in this video), but primarily because of the misprints on the left side of the board: four of the double-word-score squares and three double-letter-score squares are in the wrong place. This also can be seen in the video if you look carefully (check the double-word diagonals: OK on the right side but wrong on the left). Disappointing.

Yes - there was a misprint on teh first version of the board....we will replace them at no charge. If you send in your bad board, we'll send you a new one. And the letters do lie flat on the hinge joint. Sounds like you got a really messed up board! Just go to our website and send a note to customer service. They'll take care of you.

I own the Deluxe version and my mother and I can play a game in under an hour. Plus, we use the standard 7 tiles. Also, I have "gone out" as many as seven times in one game and 1,000 points is not out of the question. I once made a 15-letter word in the standard version in high school English - 27X plus 50 for going out. I used all three Triple Word tiles - about 1200 points!

@twwilson123 does that make the board collectible more expensive? like a coin?

@arlenelevine I found a great suggestion on an Amazon review of this game to speed up the game, and it works great: Draw 9 tiles instead of 7. AND, we came up with our own "bingo" rules: 25 pt bonus for using 7 tiles from rack, 50 for 8, and 100 for all 9. With this variation we can complete a game in only about 1.5-2 hours, instead of 3+.

@twwilson123 Yep, I bought one of the first editions of Super Scrabble Deluxe and had the same issue; I contacted Winning Moves and they had just found out about the issue at the time and replaced my boards (I had bought 2) at no charge.

i always use the original scrabble and was pleased. I decided to buy the new super scrabble but i'm disappointed since it takes to long to play and its very tedious. When i would play the super scrabble i would get tired and its never ending so i had to stop in the middle. With the original scrabble i could play to the end. Sorry i bought it.

My advice to would-be purchasers is that they try to inspect a board first before buying it.

Regarding the hinge, reviews on Amazon suggest I'm far from alone in struggling with this. I'm not sure it's a one-off problem with my board. Others complain about the turning mechanism, although I find this OK.
