  • ....Sakhee and Dubai Millenium in the words of Highlander 'there can be only one'.Sea The Stars is the most complete animal I may ever see but if Frankel can dominate over further then my opinion will have to change whether I like it or not for the simple reason that he was a better 2yo.That would make him 'perfect'.

  • ...quicken and made multiple group 1 winners look pedestrian.Peintre Celebre is a good horse but like most French horses was protected and his entire season geared toward the Arc.Not for me and I preffered Montjeu who has gone on to be a first class stallion. This decade also saw what I consider the greatest 2 yo of any era in Arazi.Difficult one but I'll go for Daylami, consistent as at 2,3,4 and 5 over a variety of distance on both side of the Atlantic.2,000 onward and as much as I love......

  • ....would he live with the Brave's speed?I doubt he would have.Onto the '90's.I loved Cigar - a tough, talented horse who's Dubai World Cup win in defeating Pentire by miles is outsatanding.Llammtarra is one of the finest bred horses of alltime(along with Sceptre and Galileo)and had a great amount of ability but a questionable temperant that made him barely controllable at stud. Two horses though that gave me goosebumps were Zafonic and Mark Of Esteem. They had that uncontestable ability to......

  • ...though pigs will fly before a champion 2 year old wins a Triple Crown and Nijinsky deserves mentioning as being one of the best looking, best stallions and talented animals ever.Onto the 80's and Dancing Brave is the fastest middle distance horse of recent times. His Arc victory will be played in a thousand years time and is the most exciting finish I'll ever see.Kingston Town is rightfully in the pantheon of Aus greats and his final Cox Plate victory made the hairs stand on end but would......

  • ...as his physiotherapist.1961 -1969 is very, very easy needing no elaboration Sea Bird II.I feel the need to shorten the parmeters of years as we are getting into the era's whereby we can develop our own opinion and not rely on famous writers, museums and myths.1970 - 1979.From this point on forgive me but I will not entertain an a North American horse who hasn't raced outside his borders due to the obvious distraction of steroids.Great, great era.I think the Brigadier is without equal.......

  • ...of the best milers ever and of course Tulloch was only once out of the first three in 53 races winning 36.Benborough was beaten too many times to merit inclusion in my opinion.I'd love to go for Crepello as his pure form is comparable to any other horse in any era, defeating Ballyoss in the Derby in an absolute canter is amazing.Alas his record of just 5 races.......Therefore I'll go for Citation as his winning streak in North America stood for 50 or so years and he didn't have Ben Johnson....

  • ...Sceptre would be very, very close behind and are esaily the greatest 2 fillies to grace a track since 1900).Don't forget, and I hope Schu is reading this,Man O' War's pedigree has at least 70% European turf blood in it so quite how he was as good as he was on dirt.....?Onto 1941-1960.Citation was outstanding(funny ain't it 90% of his pedigree was turf yet he dominated the dirt scene for years,Crepello would have been in contention for the greatest ever but for injury,Tudor Minstrel was one....

  • @SvendBosanvovski I read your post as to Phar Lap being in your opinion the greatest horse of all time.I won't agree or disagree but one thing I think we should do is judge these horses in the rough era they raced. In reality how is it possible to say Phar Lap would even be in the first 3 in any of Kingston Towns Cox Plates? So I do agree that he was the best horse between say 1920 - 1940.I would say Man O' War was the best horse between 1900 and 1920(though Pretty Polly and....

  • ...words the spectrum of common Aus going would be between good/soft and good/firm whereas here we do commonly go from heavy to firm.Anyway, welcome to the site and like Arsenal it's good to have someone with experience of both racing nations.

  • ...over the place. You state about the use of times in Aus,are there many who disregard their results or are they referred to as a sure way of finding winners?I get the feeling that the goings in Aus are on a far more narrow parameter than Europe's.For instance it's normal throughout the year over here to have heavy ground in high summer as like Arsenal says we don't have the temperature to dry the ground quickly after a heavy couple days of rain which our summers commonly produce. In other.....
