5972 'Hogwarts Castle' and 37516 work Hogwarts Railways 5Z59 'The Hogwarts Express' from Carnforth to Fort William on 16 Sept 2009. Didn't see Harry Potter!
@whitewingsrich I agree. They do that in the States as well but in our case the diesel is also used for dynamic braking for the rest of the train and that may be why they do it in England as well. Just a thought.
I hate it when they put diesels on these tours :'(
It totally spoils the essence of steam Sound of the engine chugging away, exhaust fumes & horns instead of whistle. I know they are there to help but the tours look so much better when there is a second steam engine there providing the help as opposed to the diesel
You "didn't see Harry Potter" because he's just a character from seven films called "The Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone", "The Chamber of Secrets", "The Prisoner of Azkaban", "The Goblet of Fire", "The Order of the Phoenix", "The Half-Blood Prince", and "The Deathly Hallows (presented in two parts)".
urgh, turn that diesel off, why is it even there, must be something to do with the RETB.

@NeosparkJ80 Yes, there are hundreds of steam locomotives in the UK running in preservation.
