Recorded by Victor on 11/18/1915. 'Way down in Arkansaw' performed by Irving Kaufman ; Billy Murray. The Victrola is a portable (Victor Talking Machine) featuring Orthophonic sound. Billy Murray was the most popular recording star of the early 20th century. Murray had a distinctive 'hammering' type of singing technique, well suited for the production of non-electric recordings. The performers had to quite literally shout into a large horn to make these accoustic recordings. This record was take 2 of a three recording session.

Thanks for posting. I've been trying to find info about this song since I learned a version of it off of a 1929 Hambone Willie Newbern record.
