Mystery Girl Album(1989)- Performed By Roy Orbison
All Because of You Single(Europe 2005)
Written By U2/Bono & The Edge

Darkness falls and she
Will take me by the hand
Take me to some twilight land
Where all but love is gray
And I need find my way
Without her as my guide

Night comes, I'm fast beneath her spell
Daylight comes, our heaven turns to hell
Am I left to burn, and burn eternally?
She's a mystery to me

She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She... is a mystery girl

In the night of love
Words tangled in her hair
Words soon to disappear
A love so sharp it cut
Like a switchblade to my heart
Words tearing me apart

Night falls, I'm cast beneath her spell
Daylight comes, our heaven turns to hell
Am I left to burn, and burn eternally?
She's a mystery to me

She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She... a mystery

  • I think this is definitely one of Bono's best songs. The interview with Bono and the story behind writing this for Roy Orbison is amazing. Bono singing this is great but Roy Orbison took it to another level!

  • simply amazing

  • @keithturbo1980Penn Agreed, Bono's version is more back beat. But I think it's unfair to compare him to Roy.. Roy had borrowed his pipes from God. And in 1988 he had to bring them back.

  • "Not quite sure how to end this!" Well... don't end it :)

  • I agree with keithturbo1980Penn. Bono wrote a marvellous song, but it was Roy Orbison (and the musicians which helped him record it) who took it to the estratosferic level.

  • Bono wrote a song ideally suited for Orbison. It's amazing how he managed to do it so well.

  • Fantastic! And the story behind it is equally amazing!

  • muy bueno!!!

  • @Damnblastify should have reached number 1

  • Do any of you know if U2 has recorded this song themselves? I mean in a studio. it would most likely be after this one, Bono said he did not know how to end it.
