Modern textile is quite liked by residents of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. However, "air guci" cloth craft which was known since 18th century still has its place. It's reasonable, since "air guci" cloth has complicated and beautiful embroidery. In Banjar Kingdom era in 18th century, only royal families and aristocrats who could wear this cloth. But now, "air guci" cloth craft began to established by residents who live in South Kalimantan capital city, Banjarmasin.
Approaching Idul Fitri, the order for this cloth is increasing up to 2-3 times more than usual. It's reasonable, because the favorite embroidery type usually is taken from Al Qur'an verse. The one which differentiates "air guci" cloth royal collection
to the one which is now sold to public, is in its decoration. Years ago, the cloth's embroidery is decorated by silver or precious stones. Now, it only uses ordinary beads. Whatever the decorations may be, "air guci" cloth can be your adornment in Lebaran Day. Either for wall decoration or for your gown collection.
