Temp Agencies Depend on Quality Workers

In a new book about the temporary work force, UC Davis sociologist Vicki Smith says her most surprising finding is the degree of support employment agencies provide people who come to them for temp work.

This comment by this lady is nothing but a lie. You can have all the experience in the world and yet they know they won't send you out if you are in a walker. One out of two will have arthritis by 2015 and does this mean they will not send out one out of two people either for work? Kelly Services you are evil and treated me as if I was a common criminal and I do not EVEN HAVE A RECORD. How can you treat people so bad and yet call yourself a temp agency. Kelly I hate you.

This video is filled with lies. Temp agencies do not help you at all find a job. I have been to almost all of them here in Portland and not a one have ever ever called me and they second I walk in to find a job they know they will NEVER EVER send me out for an accident that was not even my falt. They blame the disabled for becoming disabled when it is not their falt they were in the car wreck. I hate temp agencies guts and practice legal discrimination and get away with it for sure.

Although the title is promising, the book is poorly written and the data highly questionable. There are many good books out there which deal with temp workers but we do not recommend the book by Smith.

also keep in mind that if the agency charges the employer $20/hr, you will probably get $8-$9/hr. The agency gets the rest. And agencies are no longer staffed by HR people (too costly), so your fate is in the hands of some unqualified receptionist, who has no hiring skills whatsoever.

definitely an evil trend, all the lives it destroys.. just imagine how that instability is like to live with, not knowing if youll have a job tomorrow, not knowing where youll work, hard to lead any sort of normal life like that

Temp agencies are so numerous out here that it clogs up the "system". People can't find a regular permanent job alot of times because there are so many temp agencies that have now grown too far to stop. These temp agencies steal valuable work from potential good quality workers for a company by putting other unqualified people to work for big & smaller companies. They're only around to make a profit off of us, that's it!

temp againcies love to take personnel hr types out to lunch, i always made sure the lunch was the most expensive in the city.
