In his 2012 State of the Union Address, President Obama stressed the importance of teachers and offered to give them the resources they need while calling on every state to require students to stay in high school until graduation or they turn eighteen.

  • WOW. This is HUGE ! We (Swedes) don't even have this ! Why would you want to have that ?? To keep kids from getting a status of being "unemployed" ???

    Seriously. Ron Paul 2012.

  • Hahaha.... This is so nice to see.... There is one issue where US is more socialistic then Sweden.

We have only mandatory school untill 15/16.

And I have understood that U are not allowed to changes school for your child?

We had that system 20 years ago, but took it away because it was to socialistic.

    And you worry about social-medicin ? ;-)

  • So what do the states do? Arrest the teachers? The kids? Or is Go bomb ya going to arrest the states if kids drop out?

  • I only comment on spelling to show how great our schools are. No offense to anyone here.

  • @slodok9 So much for our schools. It's progressive.

  • @a35intheShade So much for our schools. It's Tyranny.

  • All I have to say is "Charlotte Iserbyt"

  • I really believe that schools need to allow their teachers to be able to work more creatively so they are able to teach to ALL students. I agree that teaching just to get students to pass tests is wrong. I completely disagree however that keeping a student in school until they graduate or turn 18 is going to help anything. It's not going to keep teen pregnancy down, its not going to make them go to college, its not going to make them get better test scores...

  • IMPEACH is the answer

  • Everyone, when more students stay in school, more students finish school. He has it all figured out.......

A school with 300 people and 2 dropouts graduates 298 people and a school with 300 people and 20 dropouts only graduates 280. Holy crap, the solution is just force them to graduate. This math is difficult for me without my own cabinet but I think I figured it out.....
