The next phase of Madonna's dream for children's rehabilitation services is to relocate the outpatient area for pediatric patients next to The Alexis Verzal Children's Rehabilitation Hospital.
This renovation and relocation of the outpatient pediatric area is an extremely important next step in improving on the best children's rehabilitation hospital in the country. It would renew that link between families who are just starting down a long path, and those who have already navigated through it. The outpatient children would also have more convenient use of the state-of-the-art equipment located inside the inpatient children's rehab hospital.
The renovation will include the construction of a pediatric therapy gym, two private treatment rooms, and a reception area. The private treatment rooms are critical for children with traumatic brain injury as these patients become highly distracted in a busy gym environment. The décor will compliment the nature theme in the inpatient unit. The therapy gym will include a floor to ceiling climbing wall and a variety of therapeutic equipment.
The new outpatient facility will also feature a 1,850 square foot therapeutic courtyard and playground. This inviting area will be fully landscaped and outfitted with comfortable benches, tables and chairs and accessible playground equipment. The courtyard will encourage family and patient interaction and offer a relaxing place to pass the time for families during outpatient appointments or a welcoming spot for an evening picnic.
