that's what i thought too when i picked up an ultra cheap used copy one day (like $5 or so). i remember it getting blasted with hateful remarks and reviews that claimed it was a broken game that suffered from too many glitches, bad controls, unrefined combat, and other stuff. from what i can tell it just didn't live up to the ultra hype that built up in the year before it's release but is actually a rather fair and enjoyable game. i found the cd before i played the game and was hooked.

The game mobile suit gundam crossfire is great, but it's really the music that makes the game awesome.
