Hundreds Die in Nigerian Riots

In Nigeria around 400 people have been killed during two days of clashes between Muslim and Christian rivals gangs in the central Nigerian city of Jos. Here's more:
STORY:
Nigerian soldiers are patrolling the central city of Jos after two days of sectarian rioting left hundreds dead.

The clashes between Christians and Muslims erupted after a disputed local election.

A Muslim charity says its registered more than 350 bodies at the city's main mosque, and more are arriving from the five neighbourhoods at the centre of the unrest.

The death toll is predicted to rise - as yet, there's no official word on Christian casualties.

Rival gangs rampaged through the town torching churches, homes and an Islamic school.

Terrified Christian and Muslim families fled the slaughter, taking refuge in government buildings and religious centres.

This woman barely escaped with her baby.

"All my clothes, house and everything I have are burnt, I don't have a single thing left."

The Red Cross says around 7,000 people have fled their homes.

Ethnic and religious tensions in Nigeria's central "Middle Belt", separating the Muslim north from the predominantly Christian south, have bubbled for years, frequently exploding into communal violence.

Calm has returned to the central city, where a 24-hour curfew is in place. But the unrest is Nigeria's worst sectarian violence in years.

Islam is a religion spread by violence. Mohammed, the protagonist of this violent faith fought 48 wars and of course, on several occassions, advocated this approach in dealing with "infidels." Religious-inspired and faith-driven violence all over the world today is almost entirely initiated by Moslems. Others fight in self-defense and hardly in the name of their faith. Islam teaches, encourages, approves and commands violence against "infidels."

I agree with Biafrans7. Islam at its root is a political party. It is not a religion. Much like Catholicism and Protestantism in many parts of the world, it seeks to use religion to control easily persuaded people. Islam, however, is more clearly a political movement---just research what Ramadan REALLY celebrates. It is not the birth of their prophet but rather his rise to political power... very telling....why doesn't the media highlight this fact....ever???

where did you see a christian country that do this to their muslim people? none. if there is, it's 1 out of 10. but how about Muslim countries? it's almost all. They really make violence towards their christian people. Tell me if I am wrong.

Where do you hire those you claim to hire? In NIgeria which is a cetified failed state or where. The truth is that most Nigerians are shameless. Instead of shutting up and hiding, they will be atracting attention to their wretched selves and country with stupid boasting. really? christianity is so much better? look up the Nigerian genocide back in 2004 and where the christians killed the muslims or the crusades to name a few. its not the religion thats the problem, its the sheep that fallow the high ranking members of the religion and and listen to their bullshit without actually studying their religion or what it stands for.

Islam in its nature is intolerant, militaristic, expansionist and imperialist. A religion that its propagation was executed by application of its principal and central tenets - violent aggression and mass-murder of non-adherents. It rejects independent inquiry into dogma, scrutiny of authority and needed justifications of power. It contends against freedom, equality, opportunity, social justice, democracy and human rights. It is against separation of mosque and state hence non-secular.

I consider Ethiopia as the true benchmark for Afrika. Even though it is not without its problems, i.e. the whitening of the original Jesus etc. People dont talk much about Ethiopia as if Ethiopia is not a powerhouse on our continent whereas it is in nearly every department.
