  • MrNepau, by the time this was performed, Benny was in his 80's, had gone through a couple of strokes, and yet still played on. In his prime, he had one of the lushest alto tones ever. Just listen to Further Defintions. That was enough to inspire me to play. As for the others who had negative comments; when you have accomplished as much as Benny Carter had done in jazz, have had a stroke or two and still play, then you can say something. Otherwise, don't talk, just listen!

  • awesome,,, thats how its done man!!!!

  • @furtherdefinitions This is PURE MAGIC,In my opinion, one of the top 10 songs ever, played by two geniuses of jazz,Tommy & Benny plus of course those 2 wonderful guys on bass & drums.Listening to them is just like a great sex act or drinking a Kaluha with cream---so smooth & enjoyable.PERFECTION!

  • @vova47. Of course credit must always go to the great players in the rhythm section, but to assert that Benny or Tommy would not have sounded as great is pure nonsense. They were great with any rhythm section they played with. Statements like these always miss the point of the music.

  • Since no viewer here thought of mentioning it-- how about some credit to a great rhythm team of Peter Washington and Lewis Nash without whom Benny and Tommy wouldn't sound nearly as great as they do. And I must add that despite the wealth of information and jazz education in Europe and elsewhere it is mostly in New York that one finds rhythm section like this especially among younger musicians.

  • Jaa.... to u nas w Polsce kiedyś muzykę puszczali w TV>? normalnie szok...

  • We are all entitled to criticise tone style and interpretation-that's just a question of taste- but Carter was the most highly respected jazz saxophonist ,teacher and arranger of the 20th century with the likes of Hawkins and Webster happy to be employed in his bands, His tone was previously more mellow but the guy was nearly 90 years old here. Even composer Errol Garner played Misty in various styles - some magnificent- others not my taste. Beautiful piano here by Tommy Flanagan.

  • this guy is playing so beautifully, it's a sound from heaven ....

  • He's what, 88 here? Awesome!

  • Damn what an amazing sax player... any chance anyone knows what mouth peice he is using?

  • SUch Jazz great legends.... This song totally made my day

  • Lol...That's funny. Some ppl are locked into how a melody should be played. God is not sitting in a high chair dictating how it should be played. You are free to do it anyway you like.

True...Some get lost and can't follow, but they can stay with the simple stuff and it won't make a difference.
