Although I don't normally seek out state's high points it looks like it could be a fun hobby given enough time (and money for gasoline...). I joined four other friends, over the Memorial Day weekend, to climb White Butte in North Dakota. The hike was only about 45 minutes, round-trip, with an elevation gain of about 400 feet (122 metres). Nevertheless, it was interesting and fun to be hiking around the buttes of southwest North Dakota! In this particular video we're hiking along the base with summit about 20 minutes away.
Here's my personal web page about hiking in general:

Interesting info - thanks!

This looks too cold to matter, but hiking poles can be helpful on this one, as there are rattlesnakes around. The extra vibration they cause helps alert the snake that you are coming. Just FYI.

You bring up a good point - I, myself, have been blessed with 53 year-old knees that never have a problem. So, I'm told that using poles helps people with bad knees. However, I'm skeptical because it would seem poles weaken your knees over the long-run (as evidenced by the increase in arm strength by those who use 'em). Nevertheless, to each his own!

Beautiful shots of the terrain but does the person in front of you really need the poles?!
