  • Wouldn't you need a diploma just to get in the door to some of these jobs. I've come to find that if you don't have that peice of paper that says your qualified for something, then some of these business folks don't even give you the time of day to look at your portfolio or work and see what you're really made of.

  • @ReekoArch Yes, there are some places like that out there, but are you sure you want to work at a place that hires on a resumés first, porfolios last basis?

If I were a prospective employer I would ask for applicants to send an email with ONE 800x600 image and a link to a portfolio or site. If the work is any good then I'd take the time to see the rest. I'd reply with phonecalls for the ones that show promise, copypasta for the rest.

Good art IS a piece of paper that shows your qualifications.

  • If you cannot teach yourself basic skills, don't bother buying them, you're fucked, find some other job...

  • @ValValiant4 and for people who don't like that conclusion, do something about it! If you truly love art and don't want to find a different job, then you have to ask yourself why you cannot teach yourself the basic skills.

The people who become great at art are people who go into it fully expecting to get fucked, but possess the willpower to fight their way out. You have to thrash, wriggle, writhe and roll through mud and shit if that is what it takes to win your way out.

  • The part about "dead" art got me. I draw so infrequently and spend so much time fixing up a single drawing through trial and error, no wonder I'm not going anywhere.

  • You're a huge inspiration to me every time I watch your videos. Thank you!

  • @moatddtutorials I can live this this statement

  • @moatddtutorials You have to put your heart in to it, or else you'll have dead heART.

  • Whats good about the schools, is because of the tools and programs, just so you can get used to them. Otherwise, you're very right.
