Stem Cell Research: Beyond Hype, Real Hope by the Family Research Council (http://www.frc.org). This public domain film is consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, which state that the ablation of the inner cell mass (ICM) of the blastocyst, which critically and irremediably damages the human embryo, curtailing its development, is a gravely immoral act and consequently is gravely illicit. No end believed to be good, such as the use of stem cells for the preparation of other differentiated cells to be used in what look to be promising therapeutic procedures, can justify an intervention of this kind. A good end does not make right an action which in itself is wrong.a powerful video on adult stem cell research, showing its advantages over embryonic stem cell research. The public domain video offers useful, yet often ignored, information about adult stem cell research. We believe the information you'll see in the video is essential to making an informed judgment about the debate over this research. The question of stem cells is currently the dominant subject in the debate over biotechnology and human genetics: Should we use embryonic stem cells or adult stem cells for future medical therapies? Embryonic stem cells are taken from a developing embryo at the blastocyst stage, destroying the embryo, a developing human life. Adult stem cells, on the other hand, are found in all tissues of the growing human being and, according to latest reports, also have the potential to transform themselves into practically all other cell types, or revert to being stem cells with greater reproductive capacity. Embryonic stem cells have not yet been used for even one therapy, while adult stem cells have already been successfully used in numerous patients, including for cardiac infarction (death of some of the heart tissue). Stem cells are of wide interest for medicine, because they have the potential, under suitable conditions, to develop into almost all of the different types of cells. They should therefore be able to repair damaged or defective tissues (for example, destroyed insulin-producing cells in the pancreas). Many of the so-called degenerative diseases, for which there are as yet no effective therapies, could then be alleviated or healed. Public domain film.

  • @3spirituDeDios - you are very welcomed!

  • So true. Loved the video. Thanks for posting. I guess those who don't agree just can't see how valuable life is. But I know that they are still loved so it's okay we can only hope they see this later. Lots of Love -me

  • Is everyone here that is against stem cell research also against in vitro fertilization? Embryonic stem cells used for embryonic stem cell research come cells that would have been thrown out by an in vitro fertilization clinics not some lab mass producing embryos.

I also find it interesting how everyone claims there have been no diseases cured by embryonic stem cells. That is only because the FDA just allowed trials to begin on humans in 2011.

  • i think it's wrong that only rich people will be able to use this

Food raised by 1950s standards could not feed the populations today. Science had to step in to actually improve on God's design. We are already living far beyond our natural means on this planet but we all want to live without pain, we all want to remain productive & energetic, is that really such a bad thing to want? Assuming this is not an error in translation or calenderic error, Biblical characters lived to be 500 & 900 yrs. We would definitely have to enforce population controls.

Every step of the way Christians walk on egg shells. Don't take man made medicines as faith in God will heal you. Each time you take a pain killer you denounce your faith in God but few religions recognize that anymore, they have transferred that faith into the Dr & medications & even if the Dr corrected a condition some still give God credit regardless. it's ok that paramedics raise the dead, nobody gives it a 2nd thought, you don't even know that you are now eating genetically modified food.

Is playing God a concern for you? Too late, everyday paramedics raise the dead. For all of time if a man's heart stopped he was considered dead, time to meet his maker but not today, when it is a man's time to die we interfere, we start the heart again, we put people on machines who do sometimes return from a comma. That is a message to God that you can't have him, we are keeping him here on earth. Has God destroyed the earth for such a rebellion? No, he doesn't care. He doesn't interfere.

What we have here is literally the long sought after fountain of youth. You can regenerate any organ in your body, grow limbs and renew skin cells recapturing every aspect of your youth. You can go from crippled & wrapped in pain & contemplating suicide back to that of a youthful, happy, playful 20 yr old. Genetic re-programing can alter your genetic flaws. This is what is happening in the lab. Fear keeps it suppressed but it will surface eventually & it will be a far better world to live in.

If the clone does not have a soul then is it really much different than that Egg McMuffin you had for breakfast? after all a chicken egg is an embryo, we eat embryos for breakfast but it's an animal, we are supposed to eat animals & the eggs they produce... or are we? Perhaps we were intended to be vegetarians like the gorillas and not eat that of another red blooded animal. We could sit here for centuries debating what is ethical & what is not but healing human life will eventually prevail.

Embryonic stem cells are the most flexible and potentially useful type of stem cell. Unlike adult stem cells, which have a limited range of "careers" available to them, embryonic stem cells can turn into almost any cell type: blood, heart, liver, bone. There have already been embryonic donations, those "lives" have already been taken, you can't undo this. Now to move forward is the cloning process. These are processed in the lab therefore from a Christian point of view might not have a soul...
