Puddle City was notorious for stepping outside the traditional bounds of bluegrass music in ways that other bands might try 10 or 20 years later. In this video the band plays "Take Five," the Paul Desmond composition in 5/4 time that had brought critical acclaim to the Dave Brubeck Quartet in 1959. Note that Peter works a version of Desmond's famous sax solo into his bass break.
The Puddle City line-up for this song is, left to right: Greg Booth / Mandolin, Chris Montague / Banjo, Peter Langston / Bass, & Sharyle Patton / Guitar.
