Smaug was the first song that Duane Rohan and Krisstoff Gabehart recorded together back in 1995. It is also the first time since Solitude that Chris had picked up a microphone. Duane at that time had collection of songs that he had written after Morbid Termination and played a rough version of "SMAUG" for Chris. Chris fell in love with the song and asked Duane if he could sing it. And so Project Terror was born. Although originally was called Held Hostage, there was already a band by that name hence the change.
SMAUG is a tale of bravery in a world full of fear where we are told there are no more Herculians. They begged to differ and Duanes lyrical wit tells the story of a dragon named SMAUG that was undefeated in battle and boasted of his fierceness. The call is given for a champion to strike down the beast with the hint that no"mortal"man could defeat SMAUG.
The personal joke between Duane and Chris is that SMAUG is short for "Sinful Men Always Underestimate God".
it's not too bad. I probably wouldn't listen to it on a daily basis but it's got potential.
