I feel your Pain, I'm a home inspector in Arizona and I run across a lot of DIY projects that, well lets say could use a re-do! I also dab in my projects at home and YEP, that's how we learn! Thumbs up to you guys for jumping in and attempting a large project like that, how did the final addition turn out?

This is the problem with a lot of these DIY shows, it gives unskilled, untrained people confidence to start ripping down walls in their homes with no care for structural integrity. This is how people get hurt and even killed. This is a trade that knowing a little bit about something is much worse than knowing nothing at all. Teach them how to put up trim and put down pergo floors so they can cut their own fingers off instead of accidentally killing one of their children.
