Approximately 7,000 high school students drop out every school day, which translates to one in three students. Once students make the decision to drop out, they lack the tools to compete in today's society and diminish their chances for greater success in the future. But the decision to drop out of school does not happen overnight; it comes after years of frustration and failure. Often, those that drop out have run out of motivation and have no source of support or encouragement in school or at home.

BoostUp is a high school dropout prevention campaign designed to support potential graduates at-risk of dropping out. The campaign hopes to encourage teens, parents and adult influencers to give struggling students in their own communities the boost (encouragement) they need to stay in school and graduate.

  • school is holding me back from my dreams, which don't involve working for someone else, or being some sort of business man.

  • LOL this moron better not think of outlawing dropping out of high school cause it'll increase suicide rates cause not everyone can stand high school. I love it how everyone looks at a high school drop out like they have no future. It's called get a GED.

My school made a law were you have to wait till your 18 and wait till the end of that school year to drop out which is bullshit. There's alot of people getting in ISS and other programs cause they want to drop out not work. Wasting our time.

  • Man, am I glad I got through high school. I came near dropping out in 10th grade but seeing the future I was wasting really opened my eyes. I soldiered through to graduation and I felt very proud receiving my diploma. Now I'm in community college and the future looks good. Thanks for the inspiration, Mr. President.

  • I dropped out (and got my GED) because I hated high school. Now I'm in college and liking it just fine. :) Obama should know that you can't just tell kids they need to go to school & graduate... the schools should be a place kids WANT to go to. There needs to be major reform in how learning is approached, especially in high school.

  • lol @ 0:5 thats free mason hand shake xDD

thats why he succeded and wants us in those indoctrination canters or schools as you wish to call them =/

  • My school has over a 90% graduation rate

  • Some idiot that looks like curious george and hasnt achieved a damn thing since hes been in office isnt going to stop me from dropping out.

  • @shtdragon how does it feel to have a family who values materialistic needs more than you?how can you believe them when they say they love you?reminds me of my uncle he only loves you if your making 5 digits+ if you don't then your a loser and failure in life when in reality he is wrong..my grandpa a dropout became a Marine at age 14 then joined the Navy at 17-18 and served 51 years as a crypt. and he loves everyone unlike some people..

  • If I dropped out from high school, my parents would have kicked me out of the family. And I wouldn't be studying in university. Guys, never petition to ban education because we must learn discipline and general knowledge of life.

  • if school is practice, and practice is perfect, but nobody is perfect, why practice?

    EXACTLY OBAMA.

  • @LadyYuzuki Very few people become successful who drop out of high school. Most end up on welfare or in prison. You need to check your facts.
