Welcome to this video test and comparison between the Sony A33, and the Canon 550D, which is also called Canon Rebel t2i. I have only compared the video modus in these two cameras and seen which one that is most suitable for film-making.

it's quite obvious that these two cameras are ment for two different types of usage. Are you a beginner who wants a DSLR camera to film home videos, family videos, travel videos and so on, the Sony A33 is a very good chose. The only things I miss on this camera is the full manual exposure adjustment, a bit better microphone and a bigger range of lenses to chose from.

The Canon 550D/t2i is a bit older, but has the same video quality. Because of all the manual adjustments you can do with this camera, it's a very good chose for film-makers. If this camera had autofocus and a built in stabilizer, it would be everyones dreamcamera. This will hopefully happen in a couple of years. I can't wait!

Thanks for watching, and if you want to you can subscribe to get all my new videos =)

  • @rillesnille you should've bought NEX 5n or A580

  • @Madblaster89 no.

  • I am not a dSLR owner yet, but since the 550D has no autofocus, you have to constantly adjust the lens manually for focusing, correct? I am looking to get a video capable SLR but starting out I'd have a lot of problems w/out an autofocus during video.

  • I use my sony a55 for filming with no problem :D Its how you work around its limitation -_-

  • I see jealous Canon fanboys come here (possibly using multiple accounts per person), and pretend their Canon is soooo much better.

But the fact remains, that the Sony does video with auto focus. Canon fanboys are so jealous of that. They can't stand it.

Plus picture quality of the Canon isn't earth shattering compared to the Sony at all.

Sony has the upper hand, clearly.

  • @MegaLimera1n How? Its a nice full size.

  • @rillesnille Ha, I bought the 550D

  • @rillesnille yeah but the screen obviosly murdered the t2i - but then i would still have the t2i

  • SO If I get a different lens for the canon I can turn on auto focus?

  • I bought the a33, Im new at filming so the auto focus sounded nice, how ever is there any way I can turn it off? and also, what settings is the best for recording, is it Auto or can I experiment in som way?

pleas help me some one :)
