Here's a composition by Gerry Hemingway entitled "Soft Shoe Mingle" -- performed on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at An Die Musik in Baltimore. Bassdrumbone is Gerry Hemingway on drums, Mark Helias on bass, and Ray Anderson on trombone.
This live concert is really challenging to listen to--Anderson (and the group) are charting new territory--not your Fontana/Watrous/Martin/Johnston kind of jazz. Check out Ray's album with George Gruntz--the Ray Anderson Big Band Album. Ray's in top form, Gruntz is an imaginative, swinging writer/interpreter of Ray's tunes, and the band smokes its way through some very hard but ferociously swinging music.
thank you, Gerry
you never fail to inspire

Ray Anderson is amazing. Such a colorful and emotional trombonist. I can't get enough.
