Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages demo

(May 10, 2009) -- New York City--A Mother's Day demonstration brought out caring activists and not-so-peaceful drivers. One in particular took time from his day to stroll up and down the sidewalk videotaping activists and throwing out personal insults. Meanwhile, the horses are working alongside sirens, street performers and drumbeats, buses, and all manner of distressing noises. It brings to mind the fate of Smoothie, a mare who died in September 2007 after being spooked by the sound of drums.

Didja see that horse (on the day of the demo) with his blinders on backwards, all crazy? It was interfering with the his vision...very dangerous. And we are to believe these people are knowledgeable about horses?

That is disgusting. The drivers should not be allowed to harass in that way. I saw somewhere else some even more disturbing behavior by a city carriage driver. it's probably not even safe to walk in that area at night, and that is too bad. They should not be allowed to get away with that.

Geez, what an idiots. These horses look all fine to me and I'm working with horses for over forty years. And leaving them stand alone is something that happens all over the world. Go to Vienna, Salzburg, whatever, and you see exactly the same. No problem.

Inside out, upside down, backward, sprinkled with glitter--you know what I mean--impairing the horse's vision because they were PRESSING against the eyes. The horse might as well have been blindfolded. Now you can check your "incident" report---LOL--because you drivers keep such careful records, don't you. You know what I mean. Shall I post video?

Well, I would have gladly fixed it myself, but you know I would not have been allowed. Sadly, someone else had to intervene. Yes, there are more urgent tasks to be done, but I couldn't approach the horse, my furry friend.
