this sucks deeply!

I thought this was a great demo of a decent exercise - a good link between the staccato practice of suburi and the more flowing kata. it was in no way lethargic - simply presented clearly. thank you and keep up the great work!

I see that this "demonstration" is not credible, cause tsuki are not tsuki, asogaeshi are not asogaeshi, all movements are too smooth without conviction. Is it an martial art ? I don't think so ! pitiful !!!!! :-(

@Torinmr I do agree with you , i thought he was great and even want to try my movement like his.
one can always put the power down. Also it does show he knows his movements very well.

how can one know where there is or isnt spirit..are you in the soul of this man..how do you now what he feels...what this excersise means to him..?

There are many different ways to practice Aikijo (and Aikido in general). The person in the video is obviously not focusing on martial efficacy; he's focusing on making his movements as smooth and fluid as possible. Watching this video, I was awestruck by how amazingly beautiful he made the exercise look. Others may perform the Suburi in a way that would be much more effective in a fight; he probably could if he wanted to. My point is, don't judge something on what it's not trying to be.
The 20 jo suburi is a practise of the tsuki's, strike, sweeps and blocks that are within the kata's (static and flowing).
Al so there is a build up in the 20 jo suburi: tsuki section, striking section, one handed section, rotating section and flowing rotating section.
So I don't recommend to practice the 20 jo suburi flowing.

the movements do not feel substantial at all. even if the point was to demonstrate flowing movement, there is no 'spirit' here
