A term used by EMS when a patient needs critical care like right now! Medics dispense with an on site work-up, stablilize the victim as best they can, and haul ass to the Trauma Center. (video by Lou Angeli)

  • Farm, the shooter was still present at the scene, and the EMS Captain wanted to keep her crew from harm's way. Thus: the scoop and go. They were about 5 blocks from the Trauma Center, so there wasn't much time to do a work up on the pt.

  • nice vid, i just cannot stand those old dodge ambulances, they just suck!

  • It's a Ford

  • I hope you're not in EMS anymore. If so, you need to get the hell out. Unless you're a whiney ass firefighter who has to do EMS, in which case, you can go fuck yourself.

  • wtf? they didnt even administer o2?

  • What a load!!!! The patient didn't even have any o2 on going into resus!!! Bunch of cowboys, ridicolous!!!

  • dude this was taken in the late 80s or 90s

  • Ja man come to South Africa.

  • Well said. This video was full of errors. I watched a video of a male gunshot victim sitting on the front stoop up against the door. (Leg shot) Awake, talking in no distress. The paramedics never assessed him and moved to secondary assessment. Later when they got him up he had 3 slugs in the back. ABC's save lives.

  • hey bro if u want 2 B ems do it anywhere but NYC!!! Trust me .... save ur self and do it anywhere but NYC!!

  • Shooter still on scene should have nothing to do with it as long as police are on scene also. If the shooter was there and no police, then why was EMS even there? It only takes a few seconds to put some straps on the patient and expose the chest to look for anything that can't wait those five blocks to the trauma center. Paramedics are trained in needle decompression because sometimes those few minutes to the trauma center are too long. ABC is a short, highly needed assessment on EVERY patient.

  • God I aspire to be an EMS someday, I'm already learning some basic emergency medical, and I'm only 15. It's just always been a dream job of mine.

  • I love this video. It displays how not every call you will be given the time to even do a rapid trauma assessment on scene. I'm glad you mentioned something about the fact that the shooter was still on scene. It explains why the medics left so much out of their assessment. I'm sure they did an assessment and took care of the pt's ABCs on the way to the hospital though. Nice video!
