Badlands National Park's South Unit has always belong to the Oglala Lakota nation as a part of Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. However, the US government confiscated the land to establish the Badlands Aerial Gunnery Range for bombing practice as a part of war effort in 1942. Later, the land was returned to the tribe as government-held trust land under the management of Badlands National Park. Almost 70 years later today, the park has proposed a new management plan that suggests seven management options, ranging from continuing current management to transferring the land and management back to the tribal government. In this video, Oglala Lakota women share their view points and discuss best management options for well-being of their nation and how we can support this process.
@jamesa138 Oh. you mean the White Jesus Christ of the White people? the One that the white man slaughtered the People in the name of Manifest Destiny? Let's not forget the slaughter of irish, Scots, and all the races slaughtered in the various Crusades - all five of them - in the Name of Jesus Christ? That Jesus Christ??

I pray for Universal support for option 7 returning control to the Oglala tribe, at a pace that is acceptable and beneficial for the health and well being of the tribe and Sioux Nation

Leave this land to the loving hands of the First Nations of America. They would know to really take care of it.
