Ok, I clipped out some of it. It was kinda long (15 or so minutes) So, the basic idea is....

Cast on by purling the first row,
Knit the second row,
E-wrap the third row,
Then decrease the stitches (every 4th peg goes on the third peg)
Then e-wrap the remaining wrapped stitches
Then decrease the stitches again (every 2nd peg goes on the first peg)
Then e-wrap the remaining wrapped stitches
Then pull your working yarn through each peg to cast off

Pull the working yarn tight to create the "mini-hat" or bear ears...

*** You can also do this same thing and lay the fabric flat to create the mouth. Like you see in the bear hat I made! ***

Let me know if that helps or is more confusing!

  • Thanks bunches...... very helpful, i appreciate it. And thanks to your husband(?) he was funny!

  • @dandelions4u You are very welcome! And yes, that is my cute funny husband! :)

  • The hat is super cute! How did u get the rim of the hat so it didn't roll? Purl one knit one? Also how did you get the mouth a perfect circle? The ear doesn't seen like it would be a circle layed flat. Last question how to you put the nose on? Sorry so many questions!

  • @kgo30 Yes, to get the hat not to roll I knitted on whole row then purled another whole row until it was the desired length. I made the mouth the exact same way as the ears, but I used a much thinner yarn and 2 strands. I should have shown how you can pull the material and shape it to lay flat. Doing the gathering method that I show it creates a flat top so it works really well. I put the nose on with a darning needle and yarn in the same color.I sewed the nose/mouth in with black thread.

  • Thank you so much :)

  • @ElatedMoments I hope it helps! :)
