This Vauxhall Chevette adverts stars Larry Dann who played Sergeant Alec Peters in the ITV series The Bill which was first broadcast in 1984. He appeared in the series between 1984 and 1992
It's a shame the estate only came with 2 doors;it would have been better with 5 doors from the start-easier access to the rear and more rear legroom are the benefits.
Here in New Zealand they sold the Chevette from 1976 to 1981, in spite of Holden having the T-Car Gemini in Australia. The key differences with the Kiwi Chevette was a metric speedometer, and from 1979 onwards, radial tuned suspension as fitted to the Gemini models, resulting in the car being lower, and on wider rostyle wheels.

I liked the look of these but that 1256cc engine was a gutless piece of junk. needed a 1.6 as an option really
