the electic yellow lab cichlid has been holding fry in her mouth for about 11 days now. I am transferring her to a 10 gallon fry tank in a few days and will strip her in about one more week. I can already see the little fry's eyes through her mouth

  • ground up flakes would work as well but it might be too early for the lettuce and peas.

  • hey i just got some baby electric yellows from someone around where i live i have about 10 of them they are about 3/4 of an inch.

  • @rexlinkfish very nice, I hope you have a nice tank for them they'll grow fast. Try Hikari first bites as food if you have not gotten any fry food yet.

  • what type of catfish is that

  • @LuisxShift pictus catfish

  • Anpther thing is can cichlids get more egg dots as they get older

  • @m1ste2tea i dont have any first bites but would flakes be fine i fed them some lettuce and peas that i ground up. and they are 3/4 of an inch they are not new born fry i have them in a 55 gallon plenty of space.

  • My acei has one dot has one pointed fin and one round and is very dark he/she is about 2 1/2 inches long and my email is nmjccichlids@yahoo.com thanx and plz reply

  • @Nmjccichlids your email doesnt work.the most sure way of sexing your yellow tail acei is by looking at their vent, male will have a thinner longer one while the female's is thicker. this is pretty hard and usually involves picking up the fish in your hand. second best way is to look at the anal and dorsal fin. male's will have more than 3 egg spots and his fins will be more elongated and pointy. female's will not have more than 3 egg spots and will have more blunt cut off edges on the fins.
