Energy expert: Nuking oil leak 'only thing we can do'
Bloomberg — May 28, 2010 — May 28 (Bloomberg) -- Matt Simmons, founder and chairman emeritus of Simmons & Co., talks with Bloomberg's Mark Crumpton and Lori Rothman about BP Plc's leaking oil well in the Gulf of Mexico. BP said in a statement today that it has spent $930 million responding to the spill, which began after an April 20 rig explosion that killed 11 workers. The well has been spewing an estimated 12,000 to 19,000 barrels of oil a day into the Gulf, a U.S. government panel said yesterday. (Source: Bloomberg)
Professional investment analysts don’t trade the investments they report on in order to remain objective. Could Simmons say the same about the companies involved in the Gulf spill? He held short positions on these companies and stood to profit from the devaluation of their stock. Given the platform he commanded as a make-believe financial journalist, this was HIGHLY UNETHICAL of him.

@tom5343 That's what I mean't. I guess why i'm mad is because they actually turned off the failsafe thing to save money, and then this all fucking happened which shows their complete disregard for the fish and shit, don't get me wrong, i'm no nature freak, it's just that so many people will have lost their jobs due to the pure fucking IDIOCY of the fuckwits at BP.

@iKiwiMetalHead I don't see how BP could 'fuck up' the entire worlds ecosystem with a leak contained in the Gulf of Mexico. No doubt it will destroy many parts of the Gulfs ecosystem but it won't really damage the worlds overall.

Dumb fucking idiots at BP...they're going to fuck up the whole worlds eco-system if they don't fucking fix this sooner or later.

so he wants to put a bomb down the hole... first, you need to put it far enough down so it collapses the hole. second, how would you get it that far down? the propulsion wouldn't work too well in oil, thats moving that fast in the opposite direction

@kurtilein3 the explosion would collapse the tunnel

a simple thought for everyone here:
nuclear explosions have the habit of making holes in the ground. how exactly do you close a hole with an explosion?
