I'm guessing you've never heard of him, but he helped put something in your high school textbook that he discovered in a spiritualistic seance. Who was he and what did he "discover"? I don't own the copyrights to this video and it was uploaded strictly for educational purposes. Enjoy & God bless!

I've read alot about Swedenborg. From what I read this was a very gracious and humble man. One contemporary said that if any man could be an angel on earth it would have been Swedenborg. I read his books. They make more sense than the garbage of Christian doctrine today and you can use the Bible and corroborate so much as being reasonable and acceptable. This guy was no fool. This pastor doesn't know what he's talking about.

The Lord gave us the Torah. Later the Lord’s gave us the prophets. The first advent of Christ revealed the “hidden” meanings of the Old Testament. Is it inconceivable that the Lord would continue revelation through Swedenborg? Swedenborg teaches that every single word and even every letter of the Word is filled with an infinite depth of spiritual meaning. He not only asserts this truth, but confirms his interpretation with multiple other passages of the Word.

The "shadowy figure" was his own unconscious, just as the "holy spirit" and dead prophets Jesus heard were probably his own unconscious, if there is any truth to the accounts of his life at all. Carl Jung called this "active imagination."

@Jsledge85 Exactly. In fact, there is not, and could not be, any contradiction between religion and science. So many people just don't want or can't understand it.

Please do not take this pastor's presentation as fact. Find out for yourself and come to your own opinion on Emanuel Swedenborg.

This pastor takes the Bible so literally. Christianity does not have to conflict with Science! Physics is nothing but the blue print of an omnipotent universal spiritual intelligence, acknowledged as God. It saddens me that evangelicals turn more people away from Christianity than they win over because they simply refuse to accept science. Some parts of the Bible are allegorical, while others are literal. That does not alter the essential tenents of the Christian faith!

Great facts to begin with, except that Swedenborg is shown as a bizarrely unstable person, when in fact he was a very socially-adjusted, active person. Smashing mirrors and crawling up on tables? This is not the Swedenborg one can study, but a deliberate attempt to smear him. The pastor's argument is weak, and could as easily be used to show that Swedenborg was a prophet as not. He's entitled to his opinion, but I prefer arguments that are logical, and not based on fallacious misdirection.
