The contest took 4-hours and 50-minutes to play. (July 16)The Rangers Michael Young ended the longest game in All-Star game history, in terms of time, with a game-winning sacrifice flyin the bottom of the 15th inning, for a 4-3 win for the American League.The contest took 4-hours and 50-minutes to play. The 1967 game also went 15 innings. The contest was actually scoreless through the first 4 innings.Matt Holliday got the National League on the board first with a solo homer in the 5th for a 1-0 lead.After a sacrifice fly gave the NL a 2-0 edge, J.D. Drew belted a 2-run homer to tie the game in the 7th inning.In the bottom of the 8th, the AL tied the game once again, on Evan Longoria's RBI-double. And it was 3-3.The 10th was an inning to forget for Florida's Dan Uggla, who made two consecutive errors to start the bottom of the 10th.The AL then had the bases loaded with no outs, but could not score.One inning later, Dioner (dee-honor) Navarro was heading home with the game winning run, but Pittsburgh's Nate McLouth made a great throw, and Russell Martin tagged him out at home.The NL had the bags full in the top of the 12th, but Baltimore's George Sherrill struck out Uggla and Adrian Gonzalez to end that threat.Another chanced missed for the AL in the bottom of the the 12th, when they could not score Carlos Guillen from 3rd base.One inning after that, Carlos Quentin struck out with a runner on 2nd, denying another scoring opportunity for the American League.But Justin Morneau was safe at home on Michael Young's sac fly in the 15th, and the American League won the All-star game, again.The NL has not won the midsummer Classic since 1996.
