A 17 year old Wayne Carey enjoyed immediate success in his first season at North Melbourne, after coming across from North Adelaide.
Coached by Denis Pagan, the legendary under 19's side smashed their Essendon opponents on Grand Final day, with Wayne Carey starring up forward with 3 goals.
It was after this game that the footy world remarked that this was one player to look out for in the future!
