Ha, I loved this song. Used to play the whole thing by memory as well. I played it at a slower tempo. But that was like 5 years ago. I think I forgot all that stuff :-(

If you ever had the chance, would you play this in a higher quality? Cause im loving this despite the quality.

When I was a senior in 03', a fellow rookie percussionist and I played this song, this speed on 2 marimbas. We were so tired at the end but it took us half a year to learn to play. Its much harder than the piano version and yet still, even after playing it, I still love this version much better b/c all notes resonate much longer. Still one of my favorites til this day. ^_^

DUDE THAT IS ASIAN AS!!!! WOW!!! I'm blown away. Sweet as.
Too fast. This is 148 BPMs. You are playing almost presto.
Granted, this is your style of playing so whatever works for you. I fail to hear any major dynamic shifts throughout the entire song due to the speed at which it is performed.
Otherwise, well done. You translated this into a piece of your own!

Well, the lack of dynamics is due to the low quality of the camera used. Trust me, there were plenty of dynamics in real life! ;)

i had never heard this until i saw this vid, hehe. so i decided to get the sheet music and try to be as good as you--the hardest parts are the parallel fourths and for the some reason the decending chromatic quarter notes always get me--maybe because they're so harmonically thick. how did you master those difficulties? were you privately taught or did you teach yourself? awesome video in any case. keep it up--

Both, but I taught myself this song. I agree that the chromatic part is a little tricky sometimes, but you just have to practice it without giving it too much thought because your fingers know where the black keys are but sometimes thinking about it confuses your fingers, so it'd be better if your muscles remembered rather than your head.
